Emotions: do we feel them? Therefore we express them
Portraying the human figure is always a demanding exercise, especially when the aim is to capture and communicate emotions – that universal trait that spans time and culture, profoundly shaping the way we connect with the world. Unlike representing a landscape, an object or even a still life, portraiture requires sensitivity and attention to the subtleties of expression and gaze. Non-verbal language becomes the central subject of painting here.
In this series, the artist chooses as his protagonist the woman with whom he shares his life. In an intimate and profound gesture, he faces the challenge of representing four essential emotions – Pain, Fear, Restrained Joy and Amazement – ??in a set of works devoid of additional text, inviting the observer to a direct and personal reading. Each painting is accompanied only by its title and respective technical characteristics, allowing the essential to happen in the silence of contemplation.
