Salada de frutas I e II

In this Duo essay, Dino invokes one of his visual signatures – the division of space into four – not as a rigid grid, but as a latent suggestion within the fluid perimeter of the composition. The canvas functions as a salad transposed into the language of gesture: where all the shapes appear discreetly, erased as if they were there to give texture and rhythm to a kind of pomegranate – dominant, fleshy, almost imperial –, assuming an unavoidable protagonism. The other shapes seem to align themselves around this magnetic presence, occupying the space with a kind of complicit, almost reverent containment.

The movement of the brushstroke appears firm and controlled, but choreographic, like ribbons that undulate around the central fulcrum, suggesting the natural disorder of all salads. This essay, starting from something as common as a salad, converts the everyday into a lively and dynamic composition, where contrast, imposed hierarchy and surprise coexist. It is a painting that challenges the neutrality of the gaze, celebrating excess and the harmonious coexistence between a dominant flavor and other forms, with less relevance, less intensity, but without which it would not exist.
